1909 Born into a clerical family.

1927 Finishes the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and then spends a short period in Paris.

1928 With O. Davičo and Đ. Jovanović publishes three volumes of the magazine Trails, each having only eight copies.

1929 With O. Davičo, Đ. Jovanović and D. Matić assembles a group of like–minded people, including A.

Vučo, M. Dedinac, M. Dimitrijević, which Ristić dubbed Surrealist.

1930 One of the artists who signed the manifesto in the almanac Nemoguce – L’impossible, where a series of his untitled drawings was published (pp. 32, 67, 104) and Tri puta san (Three Times a Dream).

1931–1932 Founds Surrealism Here and Now with O. Davičo and Đ. Jovanović

1931 Publishes the Position of Surrealism in the Social Process with O. Davičo and D. Matić.

1933 Arrested by the police for his revolutionary activity and spends several months in prison.

1934 Leaves Belgrade for London where he spends several years.

1936 Attends the opening of the Surrealist exhibition at the New Burlington Galleries in London. Writes the monodrama Dan bez noći (Day Without Night) (Belgrade, 1974).

1939 With D. Fry publishes A Serbo–Croat Phonetic Reader in London.

1944–1949 Foreign programs editor in Radio Belgrade.

1949–1978 Director of the Institute for Experimental Phonetics and Speech Defects in Belgrade.

1968–1980 Regularly visits India doing linguistic research there. Publishes numerous scientific papers on comparative linguistics.

1972 Writes a book about his recollections on Surrealism Do nemoguceg (Up to the Impossible).

1976 With M. Ristić makes a book of pastels and poems Pass–T–Elle (Calcutta)

1980 Publication of the book U središtu nadrealizma, Čeljust dijalektike (At the Core of Surrealism, the Jaws of Dialectics) about the Surrealist survey from the almanac.
